เมื่อวันที่ 31 กรกฎาคม 2569 มหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์ วิทยาเขตภูเก็ตนำโดยรองอธิการบดี พร้อมด้วยกลุ่มนักศึกษาและอาสาสมัครจากชมรม PSU Pet Care ได้สร้างความร่วมมือกับมูลนิธิสุนัขในซอย (Soi Dog Foundation) และเทศบาลเมืองกะทู้ เพื่อขับเคลื่อนแนวคิด ‘สุขภาพหนึ่งเดียว’ (One Health) มุ่งสร้างสุขภาพที่ดีแบบองค์รวม ผ่านความเชื่อมโยงการดูแลสุขภาพมนุษย์ สัตว์ และสิ่งแวดล้อม ตามแนวนโยบายขององค์การอนามัยโลก

ตัวอย่างกิจกรรมของชมรมPSU Pet Care

1. ลดการเพิ่มขึ้นของประชากรและดูแลความปลอดภัย ผ่านการฉีดวัคซีน ทำหมันและตรวจสุขภาพสุนัขและแมวในมหาวิทยาลัย

2. ประเมินอารมณ์และพฤติกรรมสุนัขและแมว และแนะนำวิธีการจัดการและดูแลสัตว์ให้เหมาะสม

3. จัดกิจกรรมบำบัดความเครียดด้วยสัตว์ (Animal-Assisted Therapy)โดยนักจิตวิทยา เพื่อส่งเสริมคุณภาพทางการเรียนของนักศึกษา

4. ส่งเสริมจิตอาสาที่รับผิดชอบต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม สัตว์และพื้นที่สาธารณะ ผ่านกิจกรรมCatwalk พาเยี่ยมชมแมว และเก็บขยะ

5. ปราบปรามการทิ้งสัตว์และทารุณกรรมสัตว์ ดำเนินการทางกฎหมายอย่างเด็ดขาด ร่วมกับเจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจและภาครัฐ


PSU Phuket Advances Toward Global University Standards, Partners with Four Allies to Drive “One Health” Concept for People, Animals, and the Environment

Phuket, Thailand – July 31, 2026 — Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Phuket Campus, announced a new collaborative initiative aimed at advancing the “One Health” concept, reinforcing the university’s commitment to global health standards and its aspiration to become a university of international standing.

The initiative was launched under the leadership of the PSU Phuket Vice President, in partnership with students and volunteers from the PSU Pet Care Club, the Soi Dog Foundation, and Kathu Municipality.

The “One Health” approach recognizes the interconnected nature of human, animal, and environmental health, promoting a holistic model of wellbeing that aligns with policy frameworks set out by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Through this partnership, PSU Phuket and its allied organizations will work together to strengthen public health awareness, animal welfare, and environmental stewardship within the local community, reflecting the university’s broader mission to contribute to sustainable, science-based solutions for regional and global health challenges.

Sample Activities of the PSU Pet Care Club

1. Reducing population growth and ensuring safety through vaccination, sterilization, and health check-ups for dogs and cats within the university.

2. Assessing the temperament and behavior of dogs and cats, and providing recommendations on appropriate handling and care methods.

3. Organizing Animal-Assisted Therapy activities, conducted by psychologists, to promote students’ academic well-being and quality of learning.

4. Promoting volunteerism with a sense of responsibility toward the environment, animals, and public spaces, through activities such as “Catwalk” (guided visits to meet the cats) and litter collection.

5. Combating animal abandonment and cruelty through strict legal enforcement, in cooperation with police officers and government authorities.
