On 22 June 2023, the PSU Faculty of Engineering organized the grand opening of the PSU-EV Development Center, in response to the growing demand of electric vehicles, in order to promote the EV ecosystem and develop human resources to be ready for the electric vehicle industry. The event was chaired by Mr. Jesada Jitrat, Governor of Songkhla Province, along with Asst. Prof. Dr. Nikom Suvonvorn, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. Leading government officials, members of the electric motor enterprise network, PSU faculty and students participated in the event at the PSU Science Park.

Dr. Nikom explained that PSU-EV started from a proactive project at the Faculty of Engineering's Intelligent Electric Vehicle Development and Training Center, established by PSU for research and development to support the EV industry of the Southern region and Thailand. The center’s main mission consists of development and research, training, knowledge transfer, and consulting/testing services with standard equipment and tools to support the EV industry. The center continues development towards international renown.

Currently, PSU-EV offers training courses for electric vehicles, including subjects such as the installation of energy-charging devices, motorcycle modification, and safety standards for electric vehicles. Courses will be offered at intermediate and advanced levels continuously. Testing services are available for both static and dynamic mechanical performance, using testing machines, battery tester, cell balancer, and high-frequency battery welding machine. The center continues to support research and further development to create business alliances in the EV industry.
