PSU’s Faculty of Natural Resources Hosts 5th Betong Chicken Festival, Showcasing Signature Dishes
Prince of Songkla University, through the Faculty of Natural Resources, hosted the 5th Bekhla Chicken Festival on 13 August 2026 at the PSU International Convention Center, Hat Yai Campus. The festival showcased PSU’s research and knowledge on Bekhla Chicken, with the aim of creating new career opportunities for farmers and expanding its commercial potential for restaurants, hotels, retailers, and food entrepreneurs.
The event featured research exhibitions, knowledge sharing on Bekhla Chicken farming and business development, as well as products from local and student entrepreneurs. A special Dinner Talk, themed “Bekhla Chicken: Excellent Genetics, Exceptional Meat Quality,” brought together researchers to share their insights. Guests also enjoyed a variety of creative dishes prepared by chefs and local restaurants, highlighting the culinary potential of Bekhla Chicken.
Bekhla Chicken was developed by PSU’s Faculty of Natural Resources by crossbreeding purebred Betong chickens, known for their firm meat, crispy skin, low fat, and high collagen content, with commercial chicken breeds. The festival reflects PSU’s efforts to turn research into practical opportunities—supporting farmers, encouraging entrepreneurship, and adding value to local agricultural products.
