PSU has received a royal proclamation honoring the institution for collaborative efforts in organizing blood donation drives to carry on the royal aspiration "Our soul is for the benefit of mankind."

On January 3, 2023, PSU has received a royal proclamation in acknowledgment of the institution's collaborative efforts in organizing blood donation drives. This prestigious recognition was granted by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, the Honorary Executive President of the Thai Red Cross Society. The ceremony took place at Rua Ratchada Hotel in Trang Province. The primary purpose of this event was to honor and express gratitude to blood donors who generously contributed 36 and 108 times. These donors hailed from the Red Cross Association Region 12, comprising Songkhla, Trang, Narathiwat, Pattani, Phatthalung, Yala, and Satun with a total of 2,841 donors. The commemorative pins presented to them symbolize appreciation and recognition for their altruistic spirits, emphasizing the act of helping fellow humans without anticipating any material rewards in return.

"The Student Development and Alumni Relations Division, Hat Yai Campus, in collaboration with the Blood Bank and Transfusion Medicine Service of Songklanagarind Hospital, has set up blood donation centers and received cooperation from students and staff to donate blood. Particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, this initiative is especially crucial as there is a crisis of blood shortage. The blood donation efforts align with the current public health challenges, where the demand for blood has increased by 8-10 percent annually. Additionally, there is a significant number of patients who require blood transfusions."

In this regard, students, staff, and interested members of the general public are welcome to donate blood. Donors must be at least 17 years old, with a body weight of 45 kilograms or more, and be in good health. Blood donation can be done regularly every 3 months or up to 4 times a year. It has also been found that regular blood donors tend to be healthier and have a lower risk of heart disease or cancer compared to the general population.
