PSU Holds Annual University Song-singing Tradition for Academic Year 2026 and 2025 Outstanding Alumni Awards Ceremony
Prince of Songkla University (PSU) held the annual PSU Institutional Song Tradition for the 2026 academic year, or “PSU Cheering 2026,” together with the 2025 PSU Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony. The event honored the achievements and contributions of PSU alumni while strengthening connections across the university’s alumni network. Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, President of Prince of Songkla University, presided over the ceremony and presented awards to 72 distinguished alumni. The event brought together executives from all five PSU campuses, alumni, staff, and more than 3,000 students at the Convention Hall of the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty the King’s Accession to the Throne International Convention Center, PSU Hat Yai Campus, on 27 September 2026.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub congratulated all 72 recipients of the 2025 Distinguished Alumni Awards, noting that their achievements are a source of pride for the university. He said the awards recognize not only their professional accomplishments, but also their contributions to society, the nation, and the university. He added that the distinguished alumni serve as valuable role models and a source of inspiration for younger generations of students, encouraging them to pursue success with integrity and a strong sense of responsibility toward society.
Addressing first-year students, the President emphasized that the university song tradition is more than simply learning and singing together. It provides an opportunity for students to become familiar with PSU’s spirit, identity, and history through four institutional songs: “Khet Rua Si Blue,” “Rom Sri Trang,” “PSU Tai Rom Phra Barami,” and the “Songklanagarind March.” Through this tradition, students are encouraged to develop a sense of belonging, unity, and pride in being part of the PSU community. The presentation of the university emblem pin during the ceremony also serves as a reminder for students to remain committed to their studies and to grow into graduates who can make meaningful contributions to society.
Prince of Songkla University was founded with a strong commitment to serving as a driving force for the development of Southern Thailand and the nation. This commitment continues to be guided by the words of His Royal Highness Prince Mahidol of Songkla: “Let consideration of personal gain take second place to the overall benefit of mankind.” This guiding principle has remained at the heart of the PSU community across generations, encouraging its members to place service to others and society at the center of their work and responsibilities.
