PSU joins Study in Thailand Expo 2026: Educational Service Outgoing Mission to ASEAN (Indonesia) in Jakarta
From 18-20 August 2026, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thakerng Wongsirichot, Vice President for Academic and International Affairs, together with staff members from the Global Affairs and Corporate Communication Center, Prince of Songkla University (PSU), participated in the ASEAN Educational Services Trade Delegation Project (Indonesia) in Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia.
The project was organized by the Office of the Commercial Affairs in Jakarta and the Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce of Thailand. It aimed to promote information and academic programs offered by Thai higher education institutions, provide guidance on higher education opportunities in Thailand for Indonesian students, and facilitate opportunities for Thai universities to meet and explore academic collaboration with representatives of leading Indonesian higher education institutions.
The opening ceremony was held on 18 August 2026, with H.E. Mr. Prapan Disyatat, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Indonesia, presiding over the ceremony, and Ms. Hataichanok Siwara, Minister-Counsellor (Commercial), delivering the welcome remarks. The delegation also had the honor of welcoming the distinguished guests to the PSU exhibition booth.
On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thakerng Wongsirichot, Vice President for Academic and International Affairs, presented an overview of PSU’s international collaboration initiatives and achievements. The Royal Thai Embassy in Jakarta expressed its appreciation to Prince of Songkla University for its continued contribution to supporting and promoting educational opportunities for Indonesian students.
Following the opening ceremony, the PSU delegation engaged in discussions with representatives from 12 leading Indonesian higher education institutions, all of which expressed interest in developing academic collaboration with PSU. None of these institutions currently has a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PSU. The initial discussions therefore provided an important opportunity to establish academic networks and explore potential areas of collaboration, including student mobility and joint research, among others.
On 19 August 2026, an education exhibition was held to provide information and guidance on studying in Thailand. The event brought together 15 leading Thai higher education institutions and attracted more than 200 registered participants.
The PSU booth received considerable interest from Indonesian students, parents, and other visitors. Participants actively sought information about PSU’s academic programs, scholarships, admission procedures, student life, and facilities available on campus.
On 20 August 2026, the PSU delegation visited two leading private higher education institutions in Indonesia: Universitas Prasetiya Mulya (Prasmul) and Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH).
Universitas Prasetiya Mulya (Prasmul) is a leading private university in Indonesia, particularly recognized for its strengths in business administration and entrepreneurship. The university places strong emphasis on collaboration with industry, entrepreneurship development, international networking, and experiential learning.
Meanwhile, Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) is a leading private Christian university in Indonesia and among the early institutions in the country to introduce English-medium programs and a Liberal Arts approach to higher education.
Both institutions expressed interest in developing academic collaboration with Prince of Songkla University. Further discussions among the relevant units of both institutions are expected to be arranged to explore potential areas and mechanisms for future collaboration.
PSU’s participation in the ASEAN Educational Services Trade Delegation Project went beyond promoting its academic programs and student admissions. It represented a proactive effort to strengthen educational networks between Prince of Songkla University and Indonesian higher education institutions, while also creating opportunities for high-potential Indonesian students to pursue graduate studies at PSU.
In this regard, PSU is currently accepting applications for the PSU Graduate Studies Scholarships and Admission program, which provides opportunities for qualified international students to pursue graduate studies and receive Prince of Songkla University Graduate Scholarships for the 2026 academic year.
