PSU Moves Forward with Preparations for the 9th Regional RSPG Academic Conference and Exhibition
The RSPG Coordination Center at Prince of Songkla University (PSU) held the 3/2026 Joint Steering and Coordination Subcommittee Meeting in collaboration with the Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn (RSPG). The meeting aimed to review progress and strengthen preparations for the 9th Regional Academic Conference and Exhibition on School Botanical Gardens and Local Resource Bases 2026, while ensuring effective coordination among all parties involved.
The meeting was held on 24 August 2026 at Meeting Room 210, Office of the President, PSU Hat Yai Campus, with online participation also available. Associate Professor Dr. Wasin Suwannarat, Vice President for Hat Yai Campus, chaired the meeting, joined by Mr. Pornchai Chuthamat, Deputy Director of RSPG, and Dr. Piyarat Prinya Phong Charoensap, Assistant Director of RSPG and Secretary to the RSPG Committee, along with PSU executives, subcommittee members, and representatives from relevant working groups.
A key focus of the meeting was to review the progress of 17 working groups responsible for preparations across all major areas. These included medical and nursing services, ceremonies, reception and hospitality, food and beverages, registration and data processing, exhibitions, academic sessions, venue arrangements, and services for participants.
The meeting also reviewed preparations for transportation, traffic management and security, public relations and video production, audiovisual and information technology systems, performances and stage management, as well as budgeting and financial administration. These efforts are being coordinated to ensure that all teams work in the same direction and that the regional event is delivered smoothly and efficiently.
Particular attention was also given to exhibitions by organizations participating in the Royal Initiative, the Thai Peninsula Geology Festival, the academic conference and exhibition on School Botanical Gardens, the academic conference and exhibition on Local Resource Bases, and the RSPG–Prince of Songkla University Exhibition. These activities will provide platforms for participating organizations and networks to showcase their achievements and exchange knowledge and experience.
The meeting marks an important step in PSU and RSPG’s preparations for the 9th Regional Academic Conference and Exhibition. The event will serve as a platform for sharing achievements in school botanical gardens and local resource management, while promoting knowledge exchange and strengthening collaboration among educational institutions, local administrative organizations, organizations participating in the Royal Initiative, and partner networks.
Through this collaboration, PSU and its partners aim to further advance the conservation, responsible management, and sustainable use of local resources, ensuring that valuable knowledge and natural resources are preserved and passed on to future generations.
