PSU Faculty of Science Wins Thailand Science Communication Awards 2026 “Science for a Sustainable World” Brings the SDGs Closer to Society
The Faculty of Science, Prince of Songkla University (PSU) has received the Excellence in Science Communication Organization Award in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the Thailand Science Communication Awards 2026, organized by the National Science Museum (NSM).
The award recognizes the Faculty’s science communication initiative, “Science for a Sustainable World,” highlighting its commitment to connecting scientific knowledge with society and encouraging public participation in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.
The award ceremony was held on 23 August 2026 during the National Science and Technology Fair 2026 at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani. Ms. Sarinya Sakhakara, Assistant Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), presided over the ceremony.
Held for the first time, the Thailand Science Communication Awards 2026 recognized outstanding individuals, organizations, and achievements in science communication across 15 award categories, while also honoring four distinguished individuals for their significant contributions to promoting science in Thai society.
On behalf of PSU, Professor Dr. Anchana Prathep, Dean of the Faculty of Science, received the award. The Faculty was nationally recognized for its role as a regional hub for science communication and for making scientific knowledge more accessible to the public through a variety of communication platforms. Its work aims to strengthen public awareness, understanding, and participation in sustainable development.
Professor Dr. Anchana expressed her appreciation for the recognition and thanked the production team, public relations team, guests, and everyone involved in communicating knowledge about the SDGs to the wider public. She noted that the award serves as an important encouragement for the Faculty and reflects its commitment to becoming a “Faculty of Science for Sustainable Development.”
The “PSU Science and SDGs Podcast” is produced by the Public Relations Unit under the Faculty’s Networking and Public Relations Division. The program presents scientific knowledge related to sustainable development in an accessible and engaging way, while connecting PSU’s research and expertise with practical applications that benefit society.
The program covers all 17 Sustainable Development Goals, addressing issues ranging from poverty, food security, health, education, equality, energy, the environment, and innovation to marine resources, terrestrial ecosystems, and partnerships for sustainable development.
Researchers, staff, students, alumni, and partner networks are invited to share their knowledge and experiences through podcasts, online media, discussions, field-based activities, and phone-in sessions. Through these diverse formats, the initiative aims to bring science beyond the laboratory and closer to people’s everyday lives—contributing to a more sustainable future.
