PSU Faculty of Communication Sciences Wins MIDL Awards 2026 Recognized as an Outstanding Educational Institution for Advancing a Learning Society and Media Literacy
The Faculty of Communication Sciences, Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Pattani Campus, received the MIDL Awards 2026 for outstanding achievement in fostering a learning society and promoting media literacy under the Outstanding Educational Institution category.
Assistant Professor Dr. Phirakan Kai-nunna, Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, received the honorary award on behalf of the Faculty at the MIDL Awards 2026, held on 21 August 2026 at the Best Western Plus Wanda Grand Hotel, Nonthaburi.
The award recognizes the Faculty’s long-standing contribution to advancing media literacy in higher education. Since 2001, the Faculty has pioneered and promoted the integration of media literacy into general education courses. To date, more than 18,500 students have completed courses incorporating media literacy knowledge and skills.
Over the years, the Faculty has continuously adapted its teaching and initiatives to the changing digital communication landscape. Its work covers areas including peace journalism, artificial intelligence (AI) literacy, cyber resilience, creative media production, and proactive projects and activities designed to develop active and informed citizens.
The Faculty has also played an important role in expanding media literacy knowledge beyond the classroom, contributing expertise, academic initiatives, and practical approaches to the advancement of media literacy at the national level.
The MIDL Awards 2026 and the gathering of media-literate communities were organized by the Radio and Media Association for Children and Youth, in collaboration with the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) and partner networks.
The event provided a platform for sharing knowledge, experiences, and positive initiatives in media literacy, while strengthening collaboration among different sectors to foster a learning society and enhance media literacy across Thailand.
