Deputy Prime Minister Opens “PSU Academic Week 2026” at Surat Thani Campus Showcasing “Intelligent Innovation for Life” to Drive Southern Thailand toward Sustainability
Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Surat Thani Campus, is hosting “PSU Academic Week 2026 – Surat Thani Campus (PSU Open House 2026)” under the theme “Intelligent Innovation for Life.” Held from 18–20 August 2026 at PSU Surat Thani Campus, the event serves as a learning platform showcasing the University’s strengths in academics, research, and innovation, while inspiring young people and expanding access to educational opportunities.
The official opening ceremony was held on 19 August 2026 at the PSU Surat Thani Campus Auditorium. Mr. Wittasak Jumruinusit, Vice Governor of Surat Thani Province, and Assistant Professor Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, President of Prince of Songkla University, welcomed participants to the event.
Professor Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, then presided over the opening ceremony and delivered a special lecture on “Intelligent Innovation for Life.” His presentation highlighted the role of science, technology, and innovation as key drivers for improving quality of life, creating economic and social opportunities, and advancing Thailand toward sustainable development.
The event also featured a keynote address by Professor Dr. Sanit Aksornkoae, President of the Prince of Songkla University Council, on “PSU Research and Innovation: Driving Southern Thailand toward Sustainable Development.” The address highlighted PSU’s role in connecting knowledge, research, and innovation with regional development priorities to generate meaningful benefits for communities and society.
Following the opening session, distinguished guests toured the “Intelligent Innovation for Life” exhibition and activities featured as part of PSU Open House 2026.
Throughout the three-day event, students, teachers, parents, educators, and members of the public are invited to explore a wide range of academic exhibitions, research projects, and innovations. PSU Open House 2026 also provides prospective students with an opportunity to learn more about the University’s academic programs, teaching and learning approaches, and educational pathways, helping them make informed decisions about their future studies.
The event reflects the important role of PSU Surat Thani Campus as a hub for knowledge creation and innovation that responds to the strengths and needs of the region. By translating academic expertise and research into practical applications, the University continues to contribute to economic and social development, while enhancing quality of life and supporting a stronger and more sustainable future for southern Thailand.
