PSU Prepares Flood Evacuation Center to Support Affected Communities
Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Hat Yai Campus, held a preparedness meeting on the operation of its flood relief shelter, bringing together faculties, divisions, and relevant units to discuss operational plans and ensure coordinated support for people affected by flooding. The meeting was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wasin Suwannarat, Vice President for Hat Yai Campus and Director of the Flood Relief Shelter, and was held at Meeting Room 210, Office of the President, on August 18, 2026.
The meeting focused on establishing a clear management structure, defining the responsibilities of each team, and strengthening coordination systems to ensure that assistance can be provided in an organized and effective manner. Preparations covered key areas including shelter arrangements; registration and information management for evacuees; health screening and healthcare services; care for evacuees’ pets; food and beverage services; distribution of essential supplies; donation management; communication and information technology systems; utility management; security and traffic management; transportation services; and coordination for evacuees returning to their home communities. These preparations are intended to enable all participating units to work together efficiently and provide appropriate support throughout shelter operations.
The meeting represents an important step in strengthening PSU’s preparedness for potential flood emergencies. Through coordinated efforts among University units and relevant partner organizations, PSU aims to ensure that assistance for people affected by flooding can be delivered in a systematic, timely, and safe manner.
