PSU Congratulates Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wattana Ratisamith on Thailand Energy Awards 2026 Recognition
Prince of Songkla University (PSU) congratulates Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wattana Ratisamith, a faculty member of the Faculty of Environmental Management, on receiving an Outstanding Award in Renewable Energy – Innovation on Alternative Energy at the Thailand Energy Awards 2026, one of Thailand’s leading recognitions for excellence in energy innovation. The award was presented for his innovative project, “Sub-Freezing Cooling System Using High-Temperature Solar Thermal Collectors.”
The innovation utilizes solar thermal collectors capable of generating temperatures between 100 and 125 degrees Celsius to power a cooling system that can cool 200 liters of water to temperatures between -5 and 0 degrees Celsius. Significantly, the system operates entirely on solar thermal energy, without requiring any additional energy source. The technology demonstrates the potential of renewable energy to support efficient cooling applications while responding to growing environmental challenges associated with global warming.
TThailand Energy Awards have recognized achievements in the energy sector for more than 26 years, since their establishment in 2000. The awards provide a platform for government agencies, private organizations, communities, and educational institutions to present innovative initiatives demonstrating creativity and the practical application of clean energy in diverse contexts. Through the recognition of promising energy solutions, the awards also encourage the development of practical models that can be further expanded and applied on a broader scale.
