PSU welcomes HSRI to advance Thailand's genomics initiative




Prince of Songkla University (PSU), through its Office of Research and Development, welcomed delegates from the Health Systems Research Institute (HSRI) for a stakeholder workshop titled "Consultation on Research Directions under the Genomics Research and Development Office, Health Systems Research Institute." The workshop was hosted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Laemthong Chuenchom, Director of the Office of Research and Development, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dennapa Sotthibandhu, Assistant Director. The HSRI delegation was led by Dr. Nusara Satproedprai, Research Manager of the Genomics Research and Development Office, and included representatives from the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) and the Department of Medical Sciences. The event was held on 15 July 2026 at Chatvijai Conference Room, 12th Floor, Learning Resources Center (LRC), Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai, Songkhla.





The workshop brought together PSU researchers, faculty members, and healthcare professionals to exchange perspectives on shaping the future direction of genomic medicine research in Thailand. Participants were introduced to the Thailand Genomics Initiative, along with relevant policies, legal frameworks, HSRI's research management approach, and research tools and databases developed by NSTDA. An open discussion session followed, providing participants with an opportunity to share recommendations and insights.



The recommendations gathered from PSU's research community will contribute to strengthening the management of Thailand's genomics research programs and guiding future research priorities that address national needs. The workshop also reinforced collaboration among HSRI, partner universities, and healthcare professionals across Southern Thailand, while supporting sustainable research partnerships and future technology transfer initiatives.
