PSU holds annual Wai Khru Ceremony, embracing cultural diversity




Prince of Songkla University (PSU), through the Student Administrative Organization and the Student Union of PSU Hat Yai Campus, held the University Wai Kru Ceremony for the 2026 academic year. The ceremony provided students with an opportunity to express their gratitude, humility, and appreciation for their teachers and lecturers who have guided and imparted knowledge to them. Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, President of Prince of Songkla University, presided over the ceremony and delivered words of guidance to the students. He was joined by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wirote Youravong, Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations, along with university personnel and students. The ceremony was held at the Conference Hall of the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty the King’s Accession to the Throne International Convention Center on 2 July 2026.




The University Wai Kru Ceremony for the 2026 academic year also reflected PSU’s multicultural identity and its commitment to learning together with mutual respect for different religious traditions. The event promoted arts, culture, and religion within a multicultural society, with activities arranged in designated venues appropriate to each faith, ensuring inclusive participation for all students.




Buddhist students participated in the University Wai Kru Ceremony at the International Convention Center and attended an inspirational talk entitled “Experience Is the Best Teacher,” delivered by Dr. Nawamin Pinpathomrat of the Faculty of Medicine, Prince of Songkla University. The session offered valuable perspectives to help guide students throughout their university life.



Muslim students attended a special lecture entitled “The Rights of the Learned and the Honour of Knowledge,” delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. U-samarn Yunu, Chair of the Bachelor of Arts Program in Islamic Studies and Islamic Law, Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus. The session was held at the Sports and Health Center.



Christian students attended a special lecture entitled “Learning with a Humble Heart,” delivered by Ms. Winita Suwansa-ard, Managing Director of QIT Business Consulting Co., Ltd., and a consultant and guest speaker affiliated with the Department of Industrial Promotion. The session took place at the Student Activity Building.



The event also featured competitions and an award ceremony designed to encourage and showcase students’ talents in three categories under the theme “The Teacher in My Heart”: the traditional Wai Kru tray arrangement competition, the Thai essay writing competition, and the poster and infographic design competition.
