PSU Pattani welcomes new students with Jacaranda 59 “Bloom with Love, Bond with Soul”
Prince of Songkla University Pattani Campus welcomed its new students, the 59th generation of Sri Trang students, through an orientation program held under the theme “Jacaranda 59: Bloom with Love, Bond with Soul.” Organized by the Division of Student Development and Alumni Affairs, the event took place at the La-Mae Samilae Multipurpose Ground on June 14, 2026.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, President of Prince of Songkla University, together with Pattani Campus executives, faculty members, and staff, warmly received the incoming students. The orientation featured the university anthem choir performance, the ceremonial procession of the university emblem, and the “Voice of Bloom” session, during which university leaders shared their vision, perspectives, and words of encouragement to help students prepare for university life and future growth. The program also included the freshmen pledge ceremony and the presentation of university pins.

In his welcoming remarks, Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub congratulated the new students and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to providing educational opportunities and nurturing young people to become both capable and ethical individuals, in line with the university’s guiding principle, “Our Soul is for the Benefit of Mankind.” He noted that Prince of Songkla University has long been a source of pride for Southern Thailand, having produced more than 300,000 graduates who contribute to society across diverse professions at local, national, and international levels. He encouraged students to make the most of their years at the university by embracing academic learning, teamwork, discipline, volunteerism, and the ability to live harmoniously in a diverse society. He also highlighted the unique strengths of Pattani Campus and Southern Thailand, whose rich cultural diversity and abundant resources provide valuable opportunities for learning and community engagement.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Attachai Ueranantasun, Vice President for Pattani Campus, described the campus as a “new home” where students can learn, grow, and discover their potential throughout their four years of study. He emphasized that Pattani Campus is a place of opportunity and diversity, where differences are respected, friendships are fostered, and everyone is encouraged to grow in their own way. He expressed the hope that students would truly feel that the campus is “A Place We Belong” — more than just an institution, but a supportive community where they can develop academically, personally, and socially.

Meanwhile, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Montira Leelakriangsak, Vice President for Academic Affairs, encouraged students to look beyond the classroom and embrace lifelong learning. She emphasized the concept of “Learning Beyond the Classroom,” which promotes academic excellence alongside life skills and real-world experiences. She urged students to make the most of their university years through engagement with communities and cultural diversity, active participation in student activities, and adherence to academic integrity and ethical use of technology. She also encouraged students to contribute positively to society and support sustainable development while striving to become both knowledgeable and responsible global citizens.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Bordin Waelateh, Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Affairs, reminded students that university education is not solely about academics but also about learning from life, people, and experiences. He emphasized that students are not expected to have all the answers from the very beginning. Instead, the university provides a space for self-discovery, personal growth, and exploration. He encouraged students to make the most of every opportunity, to think boldly, ask questions, try new things, and never be afraid of making mistakes, as every experience is an important part of learning and becoming the best version of themselves.
