PSU, in collaboration with the Embassy of India, promotes global wellness through International Day of Yoga 2026

Prince of Songkla University (PSU), in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Thailand, organized International Day of Yoga 2026 to promote holistic well-being through the practice of yoga while strengthening academic, cultural, and international cooperation.

The event was officially opened by Asst. Prof. Dr. Teerasak Jindabot, Director of the Global Affairs and Corporate Communication Center, PSU, with the participation of executives, staff, students, and the general public. The activity was honored by Mr. Sanjiv Kumar Chaturvedi, an expert yoga instructor from India, who led the participants through yoga practices and shared traditional Indian approaches to maintaining physical and mental well-being. The event was held at Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai Campus, on 13 June 2026.

This year’s celebration was particularly meaningful as it marked the 12th anniversary of the proclamation of International Day of Yoga, reflecting the growing global awareness of health, and the role of yoga as a tool for achieving balance and well-being in everyday life.

The International Day of Yoga activity aims to encourage people to experience and understand the benefits of yoga. Yoga contributes to physical health, stress reduction, improved concentration, and emotional balance, ultimately supporting sustainable quality of life.

The United Nations (UN) designated 21 June as the International Day of Yoga in 2014. Since then, Prince of Songkla University has continuously collaborated with the Embassy of India in Thailand to organize this meaningful event at the Hat Yai Campus. This year marked the 5th consecutive year of the celebration, receiving an enthusiastic response from more than 400 registered participants, demonstrating the strong engagement and growing interest in health and wellness among PSU students, staff, and the wider community.

In addition, the event featured an Indian-style breakfast service for participants, offering an opportunity to experience the unique identity and charm of Indian culture through food. This cultural exchange experience enriched the atmosphere of learning and connection across cultures, further highlighting PSU’s role as a university that promotes wellness, embraces diversity, and fosters global connections through meaningful activities.
