PSU and Buddhadasa Indapanno Archives launch “Buddhadasa AI” to bring Dharma archives into the digital era

Prince of Songkla University, through the Office of Digital Innovation and Intelligent Systems, in collaboration with the Buddhadasa Indapanno Archives, or Suan Mokkh Bangkok, organized the event “From Suan Mokkh to the World of AI” to launch the Buddhadasa Digital Archive Database Development Project, also known as “Buddhadasa AI.” The event was held on May 25, 2026, in commemoration of the 120th birth anniversary of Buddhadasa Bhikkhu.

Buddhadasa AI aims to collect, organize, and expand access to the teachings and works of Buddhadasa Bhikkhu, including documents, books, lecture recordings, and Dharma publications, in a searchable digital format. The project applies artificial intelligence to support Dharma learning in a way that aligns with contemporary society and broadens access to Buddhist knowledge for the wider public.

The event included project presentations, a demonstration of the AI Search system, and knowledge-sharing sessions on the role of AI in preserving and sharing Buddhist teachings. Distinguished speakers, scholars, system developers, and invited experts exchanged perspectives on Buddhist wisdom in the age of AI.

This initiative marks an important step in the collaboration between PSU and the Buddhadasa Indapanno Archives, using digital technology and AI to manage Buddhist knowledge more systematically. It also helps preserve and extend the intellectual legacy of Buddhadasa Bhikkhu, making it more accessible to people in Thailand and, in the future, to international audiences.
