PSU strengthens data protection and cybersecurity readiness through PDPC advisory assessment for Fiscal Year 2026

Prince of Songkla University, led by its President, together with university executives and staff, welcomed representatives from the Personal Data Protection Committee Office and the National Cyber Security Agency on May 29, 2026, at PSU Hat Yai Campus.

The visit was part of the 2026 advisory assessment on preventing personal data breaches caused by cyber threats, conducted under the supervision of the Personal Data Protection Committee Office. The assessment aimed to enhance PSU’s personal data management in line with relevant laws and strengthen public confidence in the university’s operations.

The advisory assessment focused on two key areas. The first was a review of personal data protection practices using the PDPC Regulator Checklist, covering governance frameworks, policies, measures, and operating procedures related to personal data processing. The second focused on cybersecurity readiness under relevant cybersecurity laws, using the Cyber Security Self-Assessment and Virtual CISO systems to assess cyber risk management related to personal data.

PSU has continuously developed personal data protection mechanisms across several dimensions, including university-level governance, the appointment of policy committees, the designation of responsible executives, and the appointment of data protection officers and working teams. The university has also issued key policies and guidelines, including its Privacy Policy, Privacy Notice, cookie usage guidelines, university email guidelines, CCTV data protection guidelines, and procedures for granting access to personal data.

In addition, PSU has organized training and workshops to build staff capacity and awareness, covering topics such as records of processing activities, data breach management, legal compliance, cybersecurity, and cross-border data transfer in the context of an international university.

The university has also strengthened cybersecurity governance through relevant committees, working teams, and information security policies to support risk prevention and systematic incident response.

This advisory assessment allows PSU to comprehensively review its policies, workflows, and technical measures, while identifying areas for further improvement. The university will use the recommendations to develop concrete improvement plans in both personal data protection and cybersecurity.

Prince of Songkla University remains committed to continuously enhancing personal data protection and cybersecurity standards to ensure transparent, secure, and trustworthy services, teaching, research, and administration in the digital era.
