PSU participates in ASEAN+3 meeting in Singapore to strengthen higher education collaboration in the AI era
The 13th ASEAN+3 Heads of International Relations Meeting was held on 16-17 April 2026 in Singapore, hosted by Nanyang Technological University (NTU) under the theme “Leading Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Age of AI towards Strategic Partnership.” The meeting aimed to enhance collaboration among higher education institutions, share best practices, and explore new opportunities in the digital transformation era across ASEAN, as well as China, Japan, and South Korea.

Center of Prince of Songkla University participated in the meeting to
exchange experiences and strengthen international partnerships.
The meeting featured a welcome address by Prof. Lee Pooi See, Vice
President (International Engagement) of Nanyang Technological
University, followed by the opening remarks delivered by Assoc. Prof.
Dr. Thanapan Laiprakobsup, Executive Director of the ASEAN University
Network (AUN).
The programme also included a keynote lecture on “The Future of Education in an AI-enabled World” by Prof. Christian Wolfrum, Deputy President and Provost of NTU. In addition, there were reflections and discussions from students and university leaders on the role of higher education institutions in the AI era, as well as breakout workshop sessions to explore how universities can remain relevant and resilient in an AI-driven world.
In addition, several new collaborative initiatives were introduced, including the US–ASEAN Frontiers of Science, Engineering and Medicine Symposium, the proposed ASEAN+3 Summer Mobility Program by Kyung Hee University, a recap of the AUN Summer Camp 2024 and 2025, the proposed model for AUN Summer Camp 2027, and AUN research grants.
On this occasion, Prince of Songkla University also held bilateral discussions with Nanyang Technological University on potential collaboration in student leadership development programs and training initiatives for international relations staff, aiming to further enhance institutional capacity at the global level.
Following the meeting, participants visited the High Performance Computing Centre (HPCC) and toured key facilities at NTU.
The next ASEAN+3 Heads of International Relations Meeting in 2027 will be hosted by Guizhou University in China.
