PSU launches experiential learning program to prepare students for modern retail careers
Prince of Songkla University, through the Division of Student Development and Alumni Relations, Hatyai Campus, has launched the 22nd Batch of the Graduate Competency Development Program for Entrepreneurship for the 2025 academic year. The opening ceremony was held on April 2, 2026, at the Office of the President, PSU Hatyai Campus, and was presided over by Associate Professor Dr. Wirote Youravong, Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Affairs.
The program runs from April 2 to June 17, 2026, aiming to equip students with essential competencies for careers in the modern retail industry. It focuses on both practical and interpersonal skills, while fostering professional attitudes such as responsibility, effective communication, and service excellence. Participants will gain hands-on experience through on-site training at establishments operated by CP All Public Company Limited.
In his opening remarks, the Vice President expressed appreciation to the organizing team, representatives from CP All, faculty members, staff, and participating students. He also commended the students for making productive use of their semester break, emphasizing that real-world experience at 7-Eleven stores will enable them to understand operational processes, develop problem-solving skills, and enhance teamwork—experiences that go beyond classroom learning.
The program includes project briefings and expert lectures on key topics such as human resource management in retail, preparation for operational roles, marketing management, and franchise business management. These components are designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the modern retail industry.
A total of 50 students from all campuses and disciplines, ranging from first- to fourth-year levels, have been selected to participate. The program offers valuable opportunities for experiential learning in real work environments, helping students build professional skills, confidence, and readiness for future careers.
Participants will benefit from gaining industry insights, accumulating professional experience, receiving compensation for their work, and obtaining a certificate upon completion. The program may also allow for credit transfer under the university’s general education requirements, subject to conditions.
PSU anticipates that this initiative will serve as a key mechanism in preparing students to enter the workforce with confidence, equipped with practical skills and professional readiness, and capable of contributing effectively to society and the business sector.
