PSU discussion with OIC-COMSTECH aims for expanding science and technology collaboration
A PSU team led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Thakerng Wongsirichot, Vice President for Academic and International Affairs, welcomed the honorable Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of the OIC Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) and delegates on 1 August 2025. The delegation also included representatives from the Pakistan Halal Authority.
The visit, facilitated by the Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad, was part of their attendance at World HAPEX 2025 hosted by the PSU Halal Institute.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss potential cooperation between PSU and OIC-COMSTECH member universities in the field of science and technology, with a special focus on Halal Science, one of PSU’s strategic research priorities.
Dr. Thakerng highlighted PSU’s capacity as a regional center of excellence in Halal Science through the work of its Halal Institute, which integrates multidisciplinary expertise to provide advanced laboratory services, innovative research, and training on Halal standards, as well as fostering collaborations with industry and international partners.
This visit marks an important step in laying the foundation for long-term cooperation, with the shared goal of establishing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in the future to jointly advance innovations and knowledge in Halal Science and other mutually beneficial fields at the international level.
