PSU executives and Chinese Academy of Sciences Innovation Cooperation Center Bangkok explore the development of an international academic collaboration network
On April 10, 2025, PSU welcomed a delegation from the Chinese Academy of Sciences Innovation Cooperation Center Bangkok (CASICCB) to discuss potential academic collaboration. The meeting was led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Kaewpradub, President of PSU, along with Asst. Prof. Dr. Thakerng Wongsirichot, Vice President for Academic and International Affairs, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sunton Wongsiri, M.D., Vice President for Research and Innovation. They were joined by executives from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Orasa Rattana-Amornpirom and her team from CASICCB were warmly received. The visit included a seminar at the Excellence Research Center for Drug Delivery Systems and discussions on forming an international academic network. The meeting took place at the President’s Office, PSU Hat Yai Campus.

The seminar and discussions during the visit marked an important
milestone in PSU’s efforts to build a strong international academic
network. This collaboration is expected to boost research and
innovation—particularly in pharmaceutical sciences, science, and
technology—positioning PSU to thrive on the global stage.
The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), founded in 1949, is China’s
leading institution for scientific research and education. Operated
under the Chinese government, CAS plays a vital role in driving
technological progress, pioneering fundamental research, and fostering
scientific innovation. Its work spans a wide range of cutting-edge
fields—from physics, chemistry, and materials science to space
technology, biomedicine, pharmaceuticals, artificial intelligence, and
smart vehicle development.

CAS also plays a key role in guiding and supporting research universities and innovation institutes across China. To strengthen scientific and technological ties with the ASEAN region, CAS established the Chinese Academy of Sciences Innovation Cooperation Center in Bangkok (CASICCB), which serves as a platform for collaboration with ASEAN member countries, including Thailand.
CASICCB has actively entered Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with several leading Thai institutions—among them Chulalongkorn University, Mahidol University, and Chiang Mai University—to promote academic collaboration and joint initiatives.
