6.5.1 Water management educational opportunities

Metric: Water in the community

Provide educational opportunities for local communities to learn about good water management

The researchers from Prince of Songkla University developed a project focusing on community-based knowledge management for flood disaster risk reduction in the Khlong Nathom subbasin, Phatthalung, Thailand. This project was funded by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) under the 2023 Research and Innovation Promotion and Support Program for Knowledge Management, Research, and Technology Transfer for Utilization (for Security Purposes). It aims to enhance community capacity in managing water resources and flood risks through knowledge transfer, training, and local engagement across three districts. Activities include workshops, risk assessments, and the development of a water management database to empower local communities in disaster preparedness and resilience. Supported by Prince of Songkla University and partners, the initiative seeks to establish an effective, sustainable flood risk reduction model for the area.
