PSU Faculty of Science and Chana Power Plant Organize “Chuan Nong Song Nok” Activity to Inspire Nature Conservation Awareness
The Faculty of Science, Prince of Songkla University, led by Dr. Yingyos Lapwong, Lecturer in the Biology Program, in collaboration with the Chana Power Plant, organized the project “Chuan Nong Song Nok @Chana Power Plant” (Let’s Watch Birds Together @Chana Power Plant) – Batch 1 on December 14–15, 2024, at the Chana Power Plant.
The project aimed to instill environmental and nature conservation awareness among local youth. More than 50 young participants joined the activity, learning about birdwatching techniques, the use of birdwatching equipment, natural science observation, and bird surveys within the Chana Power Plant area. The event also featured knowledge-sharing sessions from experts in nature conservation, with strong support from parents and the local community.
Dr. Yingyos Lapwong stated, “This activity integrates academic knowledge with practical experience, allowing young participants to learn and connect closely with nature. We hope this hands-on learning will foster a deeper understanding of the importance of conserving natural resources and the environment in the future.”
Mr. Chanathip Chitphong, Assistant Director of the Chana Power Plant and Chair of the opening ceremony, said, “Chana Power Plant is delighted to collaborate with the Faculty of Science, Prince of Songkla University, in organizing this activity, which aligns with the plant’s policy of promoting social and environmental responsibility.”
The “Chuan Nong Song Nok” project left a lasting impression on all participants and marked an important step in promoting environmental learning and nature conservation among local youth.
