Have a policy to reduce the impact of alien species on Campus

Prince of Songkla University has been actively promoting sustainable development, supporting the physical and environmental management, and knowledge framework in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across all 17 objectives. Utilizing the authority granted under Section 34 and Section 39 of the Prince of Songkla University Act B.E. 2559, the university has issued a declaration regarding its environmental policy and conservation of biological resources to promote, support, and drive sustainable development as follows:

1. Conduct activities that emphasize the conservation, restoration, and sustainable use of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, including forests, mountains, caves, land, wetlands, freshwater, brackish water, marine areas, and wildlife.

2. Support projects aimed at identifying, monitoring, and protecting biodiversity, especially for endangered plant and animal species listed on the IUCN Red List and species protected under the Plant Varieties Protection Act of 1975 and the Wildlife Conservation and Protection Act of 2019.

3. Establish measures to control and manage invasive alien species and conflict species within the university.

4. Preserve natural green areas, maintain existing trees, and encourage additional tree planting within the university, targeting at least a 10% increase in carbon dioxide absorption relative to greenhouse gas emissions from the base year by 2026.

5. Promote collaboration with local communities, networks, and educational institutions, both domestic and international, to conserve, restore, and sustainably utilize biological resources through the involvement of all sectors.
