The Faculty of Science has implemented several initiatives to alleviate food insecurity and support students’ well-being, particularly during periods of high academic stress.
1. “Eat Well, Stay Happy in Vidya Village” Campaign : During the final examination period in October 2024, the Faculty of Science organized a week-long program to ensure students had access to nutritious meals while studying. From 15–17 October 2024, free meals such as chicken rice, stir-fried noodles, and sticky rice with fried chicken were distributed daily at the Co-working Space from 5 p.m. onward. The activity aimed to relieve food insecurity among students, boost morale, and create a supportive learning environment through kindness and community spirit.
2. Lunch Scholarship Program : The Faculty also offers an ongoing Lunch Scholarship Program to support financially disadvantaged students in the Bachelor of Science in Polymers Program. A total of 14 scholarships per academic year (7 per semester, each worth 3,600 Baht) were provided to ensure that students have access to daily meals during their studies. Eligibility includes financial hardship, good conduct, and active participation in faculty or social benefit activities.
To support students facing financial difficulties, the Faculty of Natural Resources also provided 150 lunch scholarships throughout 2024, while the Faculty of Nursing maintained its Emergency Loan Fund of up to 3,000 THB per student to cover living and food expenses. Alumni also joined hands through the NR Alumni Kitchen Project, providing cooked meals for students and local flood victims, a strong example of PSU’s community solidarity and student welfare support.
Student Entrepreneurship under the “NR-SEn Project” at the 30th Southern Agriculture Fair
Students from the Faculty of Natural Resources, PSU, participated in the 30th Southern Agriculture Fair under the “NR-SEn: Student Entrepreneur Project.” The project aims to develop students into innovative agripreneurs who combine academic knowledge with practical business experience.
During the event, students organized agricultural product booths representing various clubs and academic programs, including Crop Science, Pest Management, Soil Science, Agricultural Development, Innovation Management, Fisheries, Animal Science, and Suan Sub Shop. Each booth showcased a wide range of high-quality, safe, and environmentally friendly agricultural products, such as fresh produce, ornamental plants, processed foods, and innovative products created and developed by students themselves.
This initiative not only promotes a sustainable agricultural and food system but also provides a hands-on learning platform for students to apply their classroom knowledge to real-world contexts. Through participation, students gain valuable experience in entrepreneurship, product development, marketing, and sustainable business management, while supporting the local economy and encouraging responsible consumption.
By linking learning, production, and community service, the NR-SEn programme reduces food insecurity among students, supports equitable access to nutritious food, and promotes sustainable livelihoods — directly contributing to the achievement of SDG 2: Zero Hunger.
