Work directly (research and/or engagement with industries) to maintain and extend existing ecosystems and their biodiversity, of both plants and animals, especially ecosystems under threat

 PSU-TUYF Charitable Trust Fund to support Life Below Water

        PSU-TUYF Charitable Trust Fund provide funding in a total of 19,900,000 Thai Baht to support research projects on exploring marine coastal resources for sustainable utilization and management in southern Thailand with a particular emphasis on seagrass-dugong, coral reef and mud crabs. Principle investigators, Prof. Anchana Prathep, Assoc.Prof. Sukree Hajisame, and Asst.Prof. Mathinee Yucharoen lead projects: 1) Monitoring and assessment of dugong feeding area and networking for seagrass and dugong research, 2) Some aspects on the ecology, biology and fisheries of four mud crab species (Scylla spp.) and 3) Coral reef biodiversity conservation and connectivity in southern Gulf of Thailand to support reef resilience and sustainable use, respectively.

        From March 22-26, 2024, personnel from the Faculty of Science and Technology, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sukree Hajisamae, Head of the "Sustainable Utilization of Mud Crab" project, which is funded by the PSU-TUYF Fund, visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).

        During the visit, the team presented the project’s operational progress and held a meeting to discuss collaboration with the funding representative, Mr. Sam Yip, with representatives from PSU, CUHK, and City University of Hong Kong (CityU) in attendance. The team also toured the Marine Station and Life Science facilities, and discussed future cooperation between projects in the field of Marine Science.
