Prince of Songkla University (PSU) actively engages in educational outreach to raise awareness about overfishing, illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, and destructive fishing practices. A key event was the 3nd Conference on Agricultural Innovation and Natural Resources 2024: Held on August 14-15, 2024, at PSU’s Hat Yai Campus, this conference focused on "Research and Innovation to Drive Sustainable Agriculture in Polycrisis Era." It featured presentations from experts and alumni on sustainable aquaculture, aquatic science and fisheries management, addressing challenges related to overfishing and IUU fishing.

On Tuesday, October 9, 2024, the Faculty of Technology and Environment (FTE) at Prince of Songkla University, Phuket Campus (PSU Phuket), hosted a specialized lecture on "Reducing or mitigating the impacts of fishing gear and practices on the marine ecosystem."
The event was organized as an integrated activity within both the research project on biodiversity and utilization of artificial reefs (Baan Pla) and the Introduction to Ecology course, overseen by Asst. Prof. Dr. Vipavee Dammee, a lecturer at FTE.
The session featured Associate Professor Keigo EBATA from the Faculty of Fisheries at Kagoshima University, Japan, as the guest speaker.
Attendance was diverse, including FTE students and researchers, researchers from the Phuket Marine Fisheries Research and Development Center (Department of Fisheries), and local artisanal fishermen, fostering a strong collaborative environment.
