11.4.7 Local authority collaboration regarding planning and development
Metric: Sustainable practices
Work with local authorities to address planning issues and development, including ensuring that local residents are able to access affordable housing
The Faculty of Architecture at Prince of Songkla University, Trang Campus, has established the Universal Design Center as part of the project aimed at enhancing innovation for elderly-friendly environments. This initiative is supported by the Health Promotion Foundation and serves as a learning hub for physical design that is suitable for seniors and individuals with disabilities.
The center will
act as a repository for research data and innovations targeted at seniors and
people with disabilities. Additionally, it will provide a platform for
knowledge exchange and understanding of inclusive design principles. It will
also serve as a resource for studying innovative equipment and facilities
catering to the needs of the elderly and disabled.
Furthermore,
the center will offer consultation services to local agencies seeking to modify
public buildings to better accommodate seniors and individuals with
disabilities. Faculty members have collaborated with the Trang Provincial
Social Development and Human Security Office to conduct field surveys of
residential areas to improve the living environment, focusing on the primary
target group of the aging society initiative.
