Prince of Songkla University was established in accordance with the Southern Development Plan Policy, with the intention from the beginning to become the main university in the south in terms of delivering graduates and research, providing academic services, and maintaining arts and culture. The educational management of the university focuses on people development as the driving force of society, and adheres to the national approach to education management that fosters a student-centered approach.
The educational philosophy of Prince of Songkla University is based on progressivism, with the aim to develop learners in all aspects. Emphasis is placed on preparing students to thrive in their respective societies, including assistance in adapting to unpredictable circumstances by using learning management processes. Through the student-centered learning approach, learners are encouraged to realize and fulfil their needs through self-assessment and problem-solving processes. Accordingly, taking action both inside and outside the classroom is considered fundamental to PSU’s “sustainable learning” approach. This has led to the formulation of the idea that “Development is change” – a type of learning where students are able to apply these methods both at the university and in real-life environments. To ensure a long-lasting impact, PSU’s educational management aims to instill in their students the passion for lifelong learning.
