PSU Pattani Welcomes Turkish Ambassador, Explores Opportunities to Strengthen Thailand–Türkiye Cooperation through the Turkish Studies Center
On 30 September 2026, Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Pattani Campus, welcomed H.E. Ms. Julide Kayıhan, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the Kingdom of Thailand, during her visit to the university and the Turkish Studies Center, Faculty of Political Science. University administrators and representatives from the Faculty of Political Science joined the welcoming session and exchanged views on opportunities to further develop collaboration between PSU and academic institutions and organizations in Türkiye.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Aruneewan Buaniaw, Vice President for Research and Social Mission, Pattani Campus, delivered the welcoming remarks and highlighted the importance of international collaboration at PSU. She emphasized the university’s commitment to creating opportunities for students and staff to exchange knowledge and experiences and to develop academic partnerships with international institutions in areas including education, research, student and staff mobility, and cultural cooperation.
The visit was attended by Asst. Prof. Dr. Warapark Maitreephun, Assistant President for Research and Social Mission, Pattani Campus; Asst. Prof. Dr. Dr. Surawut Chomaitong, Dean, Faculty of Political Science; Asst. Prof. Dr. Anwar Koma, Head, Turkish Studies Center; Asst. Prof. Dr. Yasmin Sattar, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, International Relations and Corporate Communications; and Dr. Hafiz Salae, Deputy Dean for Academic Services and Research. They welcomed the Ambassador and participated in discussions on potential areas of cooperation.
During the visit, the Turkish Studies Center, Faculty of Political Science, PSU Pattani Campus, presented its roles and activities in promoting knowledge and understanding of Türkiye, covering areas such as politics, society, history, arts, culture, and international relations.
The Turkish Studies Center serves as an important platform for promoting learning and strengthening academic connections between Thailand and Türkiye. Its activities include disseminating knowledge about Türkiye, promoting the study of the Turkish language and culture, and organizing academic and cultural exchange activities. These efforts contribute to fostering mutual understanding and closer people-to-people relations between the two countries.
The discussions also explored opportunities to develop cooperation in education, research, student and faculty exchanges, as well as arts and cultural collaboration among PSU, the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye, and partner institutions in Türkiye. Such cooperation could create new opportunities for students, faculty members, and researchers in the future.
The Ambassador’s visit to PSU Pattani Campus provided an important opportunity to strengthen Thailand–Türkiye relations and explore new avenues for academic and cultural cooperation. The Turkish Studies Center will continue to serve as a key platform for connecting knowledge, academic networks, and cultural relations between Thailand and Türkiye.
