PSU Pattani and Indonesian Consulate Host Indonesia Education Fair 2026 and Inspire Forum, Strengthening Thailand–Indonesia Higher Education Networks for Regional Cooperation
On September 1, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., at C.S. Pattani Hotel, Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Pattani Campus, in collaboration with the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Songkhla, organized the Indonesia Education Fair 2026 under the theme “A Platform for Collaboration and Inspiration.”
The event provided a platform connecting educational institutions from Thailand and the Republic of Indonesia and promoting cooperation in higher education, research, student exchange, and language and cultural learning, while strengthening regional educational networks between the two countries.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Acting Sub Lt. Sombat Singkhar, Pattani Provincial Deputy Governor. Mr. Winardi Hanafi Lucky, Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Songkhla, delivered the welcome remarks. The event was attended by administrators, faculty members, and representatives from educational institutions in Indonesia and Thailand, as well as administrators and staff from PSU Pattani Campus, distinguished guests, and participants.
Strengthening Thailand–Indonesia Educational Cooperation
In his opening remarks, Acting Sub Lt. Sombat Singkhar highlighted the importance of Indonesia Education Fair 2026 as an important platform for promoting educational cooperation and providing institutions from both countries with opportunities to meet, exchange knowledge and experiences, and establish networks for future collaboration.
Potential areas of cooperation include education, research, student exchange, and language and cultural learning.
Thailand and Indonesia have maintained longstanding friendly relations, with education serving as an important mechanism for strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between their peoples. Creating opportunities for young people to learn from one another and experience cultural diversity can help prepare them to become active citizens in ASEAN and the global community.
With its rich social and cultural diversity, Pattani Province has strong potential to serve as a hub for learning and cooperation between Thailand and Indonesia. PSU Pattani Campus plays an important role as a platform for knowledge exchange, network building, and the development of regional educational cooperation.
Inspire Forum: Expanding Higher Education Cooperation
The event continued with a special keynote session titled “Overview of Higher Education Cooperation between Indonesia and Thailand.” The session featured Mrs. Cyti Daniela Aruan, Education Attaché, and Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Bangkok, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thakerng Wongsirichot, Vice President for Academic and International Affairs Prince of Songkla University, who shared perspectives on the direction and opportunities for higher education cooperation between the two countries.
This was followed by a panel discussion and exchange of views on “Future Directions and Opportunities for Higher Education Cooperation between Indonesia and Thailand.” Participants were invited to ask questions and share their perspectives, with Dr. Hafiz Salae, Head of the Southeast Asian Maritime Affairs Studies Center, serving as moderator.
From Networking to Concrete Partnerships
In the afternoon, Indonesia Education Fair 2026 featured a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony between educational institutions from Thailand and Indonesia. The agreements established a foundation for cooperation in higher education and opened opportunities for collaboration in areas including education, research, student and staff exchange, and knowledge and experience sharing.
The MOU signing represented an important step in transforming the connections established through Indonesia Education Fair 2026 into concrete partnerships. Following academic networking and discussions, participating institutions explored potential areas of collaboration and approaches to joint activities, contributing to a stronger and more sustainable Thailand–Indonesia educational network.
The event marked another important step for PSU Pattani Campus in serving as a platform connecting Thailand and Indonesia through educational cooperation. It aims to create new opportunities for students, faculty members, and educational institutions while promoting the exchange of knowledge, language, and culture, ultimately contributing to stronger and more sustainable regional cooperation.
The collaboration between the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Songkhla, PSU Pattani Campus, and educational institutions from both countries will provide an important foundation for expanding cooperation in higher education, research, and youth development, while further strengthening the longstanding friendship and partnership between Thailand and the Republic of Indonesia.
