PSU Pattani Empowers Students Through Cross-Border Learning with The Asia Foundation through STEM ConnectHER
On September 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., students from Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Pattani Campus, participated in a learning activity and workshop with The Asia Foundation under the project “STEM ConnectHER @ PSU Pattani – Cross-Border STEM Learning Trip.” The activity provided students with opportunities to learn through real-world experiences while strengthening their communication, teamwork, confidence, and ability to engage and learn in diverse environments.
The activity was supported by The Asia Foundation, which contributed to expanding students’ learning opportunities through participatory activities, knowledge exchange, and experiential learning beyond the classroom. Representatives from The Asia Foundation shared their knowledge and experiences through workshops focused on communication, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas. Students had opportunities to share perspectives, build networks with participants from diverse academic backgrounds, and develop their communication, presentation, and teamwork skills, while gaining greater confidence in pursuing their potential in STEM education and careers.
These learning experiences also helped strengthen students’ self-confidence, particularly by providing an open environment where diverse perspectives and ideas were welcomed. Students practiced communicating with people from different backgrounds, working collaboratively, and adapting to real-life situations—valuable experiences that can be applied to their studies, future careers, and everyday lives.
The STEM ConnectHER @ PSU Pattani – Cross-Border STEM Learning Trip aims to take students beyond the classroom and into an international learning environment through an educational visit to Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam, Malaysia. Students experienced the ecosystem of science, technology, innovation, and skills development firsthand.
Throughout the program, students visited a range of learning facilities and laboratories, including Perpustakaan Tun Abdul Razak Sains & Teknologi (PST), UiTM-TUT Collaboration Lab, Makmal Sistem Terbenam dan Automasi Proses Semikonduktor under the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, and Makmal Polimer. These experiences enabled students to better understand how STEM knowledge is applied to technology, research, innovation, and product development in real-world contexts.
At the same time, interaction and knowledge exchange with international partners such as The Asia Foundation enriched the experience by providing students with opportunities to develop communication and networking skills, collaborate with others, and embrace new perspectives. These are essential qualities for young people preparing to enter an increasingly diverse and interconnected world.
The activity was designed not only to provide academic knowledge but also to “build confidence through real-world experience.” Students were encouraged to ask questions, exchange ideas, try new things, and recognize their own potential. These experiences provide a strong foundation for applying their knowledge and skills to their studies, future careers, and contributions to society.
The support of The Asia Foundation, together with PSU Pattani’s international partnerships, represents an important mechanism for creating diverse learning opportunities for students. Through these initiatives, PSU Pattani continues to empower young people with the knowledge, skills, experience, and confidence they need to move forward and thrive in a rapidly changing world.
