PSU Pattani Empowers Female Students Through Cross-Border STEM Learning in Malaysia

On September 8, 2026, students from Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Pattani Campus, participating in the “STEM ConnectHER @ PSU Pattani – Cross-Border STEM Learning Trip,” explored key educational and cultural sites in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, gaining firsthand experience in history, culture, identity, science, and technology.

The learning journey included visits to Dataran Merdeka (Merdeka Square), where students explored Malaysia’s history and independence; the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia, where they discovered the connections between Islamic art, culture, and civilization; and Muzium Negara (National Museum), where they learned about Malaysia’s historical development and cultural heritage.

At Planetarium Negara (National Planetarium), students explored astronomy and space science, connecting the experience directly with the STEM ConnectHER initiative and gaining inspiration about the potential of STEM in research, innovation, and future careers.

The four learning destinations reflected the program’s goal of going “beyond STEM” by connecting science and technology with history, culture, society, and people. The experience also strengthened students’ confidence in communication, critical thinking, intercultural learning, and adapting to international environments.

PSU Pattani Campus sincerely thanks The Asia Foundation for its continued support of the STEM ConnectHER initiative, which provides students with opportunities to broaden their perspectives, build confidence, and develop skills for their future studies and careers.

Learning does not happen only in the classroom-it happens when students step out, explore the world, ask questions, embrace differences, and discover new possibilities.
