PSU Pattani Welcomes the Ambassador of Sweden to Thailand on Her Visit to the Center for Conflict Studies and Cultural Diversity to Learn About Peace Research
The Ambassador of Sweden to Thailand expressed interest in the role of higher education institutions in generating knowledge to support peacebuilding. Her Excellency also listened to research connected to real local contexts and encouraged opportunities for international knowledge exchange. This reflects the academic cooperation between Thailand and the Kingdom of Sweden and marks an important step in advancing the university’s peace research onto the global stage in a sustainable manner.
On 18 March 2026, H.E. Mrs. Anna Hammargren and her delegation visited the Center for Conflict Studies and Cultural (CSCD), Institute for Peace Studies, Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus. The purpose of the visit was to receive briefings on peace-related research and the situation in the southern border provinces, as well as to exchange perspectives and enhance understanding of conflict dynamics and cultural diversity in the area.
The research overview was presented by Asst.Prof.Dr. Kusuma Kooyai, Director of the Institute for Peace Studies, and Asst.Prof.Dr. Srisompob Jitpiromsri, Researcher at the Center for Conflicts Studies and Cultural (CSCD). The briefing highlighted key issues concerning the regional conflict situation, approaches to peacebuilding, and coexistence amid cultural diversity in the southern border provinces. Also present at the occasion were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Montira Leelakriangsak, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Pattani Campus, and Asst.Prof.Dr. Warapark Maitreephun, Assistant President for Research and Social Mission, Pattani Campus, joined the discussion and extended a warm welcome.
