PSU Pattani Advances Academic Collaboration with Malaysian Universities, Prepares MoA in the Field of Arts and Expands International Academic Networks
Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus, continues to strengthen academic collaboration in the field of arts with universities in Malaysia through the preparation of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), the organization of international art exhibitions, and the planning of staff and student exchange programs. These initiatives serve as key mechanisms to enhance learning potential, foster collaborative creative works, and expand academic networks onto the international stage for both countries.

From February 10–12, 2026, the delegation from Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Warapark Maitreephun, Assistant President for Research and Social Mission, Pattani Campus, along with Asst. Prof Sirichai Pummak, Dean of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, and a delegation from PSU Pattani Campus, visited the Faculty of Creative Technology and Heritage, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) at Bachok Campus and the College of Creative Arts, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Cawangan Kelantan in Malaysia. The main objectives of the visit were to discuss and prepare for academic cooperation, promote the exchange of personnel and students, and jointly organize international art exhibitions.

The visit began on February 10, 2026, the delegation from PSU Pattani Campus visited the Faculty of Creative Technology and Heritage, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) at Bachok Campus, where they were welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Azaini bin Abdul Manaf, Deputy Dean for Research, Entrepreneurship, and Student Development, along with lecturers from the faculty. Both sides held a meeting aimed at discussing cooperation in preparation for the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the two institutions. Key issues discussed included faculty exchange, inviting experts to participate as reviewers, and establishing international academic cooperation networks.

On February 11, 2026, the delegation visited the College of Creative Arts, UiTM Cawangan Kelantan to attend the opening ceremony of the International Art Exhibition under the theme “Beyond Borders: Art and Identity of Malaysia and Thailand.” The opening ceremony was officiated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Warapark Maitreephun, Assistant President for Research and Social Mission, Pattani Campus; Asst. Prof. Sirichai Pummak, Dean of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Nasir Ismail, Deputy Rector of Academic Affairs, respectively. The exhibition served as a platform for showcasing collaborative artworks by lecturers from both institutions. Lecturers from the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Pattani Campus, jointly exhibited and presented selected artworks to UiTM Cawangan Kelantan to signify the beginning of academic collaboration.

In addition, both faculties held a meeting with Dr. Nani Hartina Ahmad, Dean of the College of Creative Arts, and lecturers of UiTM to exchange views and discuss plans for a future Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) covering teaching, research, student and staff exchange, as well as the organization of joint art and cultural exhibitions on an annual basis.

On February 12, 2026, the delegation conducted a study visit to Kraftangan Malaysia Cawangan Kelantan to explore local arts, culture, and traditional handicrafts of Kelantan. The delegation also exchanged knowledge on batik-making processes and studied the diversity of patterns and artistic identities of both Thailand and Malaysia.

This visit to Universiti Malaysia Kelantan and Universiti Teknologi MARA marks a significant step for the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus, in expanding its network of cooperation at the international level. This will contribute to the development of academic potential, the creation of artistic works, and the sustainable dissemination of Thai works on the international stage.
