PSU Surat Thani and T-OSH advance “Safety Culture”, promoting Smart Safety to strengthen workplace standards and support southern Thailand’s economy
Prince of Songkla University, Surat Thani Campus, in collaboration with the Thailand Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Public Organization), or T-OSH, hosted the 2026 Regional Occupational Safety and Health Conference in Surat Thani from 5 to 6 August 2026 at the PSU Surat Thani Campus Auditorium.
The conference aimed to promote a strong “Safety Culture” while encouraging the adoption of Smart Safety technologies and innovations to enhance workplace safety standards and support sustainable economic and industrial growth across Southern Thailand.
The official opening ceremony was held on 6 August 2026, presided over by Dr. Nuntachai Panyasuriyat, Director of T-OSH. Mr. Suchao Thumosik, Chief of Mueang Surat Thani District and representative of the Governor of Surat Thani, welcomed participants, while Associate Professor Suchada Thipmontree, Vice President for Surat Thani Campus, highlighted PSU’s role in supporting regional cooperation and advancing knowledge in occupational safety and health.
The event brought together representatives from government agencies, private-sector organizations, occupational safety networks, businesses, academia, and the workforce from across Southern Thailand. Participants exchanged knowledge and practical experience in occupational safety, health, risk management, and the application of technology and innovation to create safer working environments.
Another highlight was the presentation of 37 awards to organizations in Southern Thailand that met the criteria of the Zero Accident Campaign 2026. The awards recognized organizations committed to preventing workplace accidents and developing strong safety cultures, while encouraging businesses and industries to continuously improve their occupational safety standards.
Throughout the two-day conference, participants took part in academic lectures, panel discussions, safety innovation demonstrations, and Virtual Reality, or VR, training. Exhibitions by government agencies, private-sector organizations, and educational institutions also showcased technologies, tools, and practical approaches that can be applied to workplace safety management.
The conference also highlighted the concept of Smart Safety, which integrates technology and innovation into risk prevention and management while strengthening safety awareness and organizational culture. This approach is increasingly important as workplaces continue to evolve alongside new technologies and changing patterns of work.
