Prince of Songkla University (PSU), through its Division of Student Development and Alumni Relations, organized the 2026 Tonkla Songklanagarind Scholarship Orientation Program to introduce new scholarship recipients to the program’s regulations, responsibilities, benefits, and expectations, while inspiring them to pursue their educational goals and become future contributors to society.
The Tonkla Songklanagarind Scholarship Program, established in 2005, provides fully funded educational support to talented and motivated students from Southern Thailand who face financial hardship. The scholarship covers education from Grade 10 through the completion of a bachelor's degree at Prince of Songkla University, offering long-term educational opportunities to deserving students.
Each scholarship is valued at no less than THB 700,000, providing continuous support for at least seven years or until recipients complete their undergraduate studies. The program aims to help students reach their full potential and graduate as highly qualified professionals who can contribute to their communities and the nation.
For the 2026 academic year, 24 new Grade 10 students were awarded scholarships, bringing the total number of secondary school scholarship recipients to 82 students from 67 schools across 14 southern provinces. In addition, 124 university students are currently receiving scholarships while studying across PSU's five campuses.
This year's orientation program was conducted in three sessions: one for scholarship recipients from the lower southern provinces at PSU Hat Yai Campus on July 18, another for students from the upper southern provinces at PSU Surat Thani Campus on July 19, and a final orientation for university scholarship recipients from all five campuses, held both on-site at Hat Yai Campus and online via Zoom on July 20, 2026.
The program introduced participants, parents, teachers, and scholarship coordinators to scholarship regulations, academic reporting requirements, expected conduct, extracurricular participation, and financial reporting procedures, ensuring that all stakeholders clearly understood their roles and responsibilities.
A special inspirational session entitled “Dreams Are Possible” featured alumni and senior scholarship recipients who shared their personal journeys, demonstrating how educational opportunities had enabled them to grow academically, professionally, and personally. Their stories encouraged participants to value the opportunities they had received and remain committed to achieving their goals.
During the opening ceremony, the Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations welcomed the new recipients and emphasized that the Tonkla Songklanagarind Scholarship reflects the University's commitment, together with generous donors, to expanding educational opportunities for young people across Southern Thailand. Students were encouraged to appreciate the value of the scholarship, dedicate themselves to their studies, and use their education to support their families and contribute positively to society.
The orientation program also strengthened collaboration among the University, schools, parents, scholarship coordinators, and students, creating a supportive network that will accompany scholarship recipients throughout their educational journey.
Prince of Songkla University hopes that the Tonkla Songklanagarind Scholarship Program will continue to reduce educational inequality, expand opportunities for talented youth in Southern Thailand, and nurture graduates who possess knowledge, integrity, and a strong commitment to giving back to society.
