7.2.5 Energy wastage identification
Metric: University measures towards affordable and clean energy
Undergo energy reviews to identify areas where energy waste is highest.
Prince of Songkla University (PSU) places great importance on effective and sustainable energy management. The university regularly conducts inspections and reviews of its energy consumption to identify areas of energy loss and uses the collected data to continuously improve the efficiency of its energy systems. These measures ensure that all units and buildings within the university use energy appropriately and cost-effectively.
Approaches to Energy Monitoring and Review
1. Smart Energy Meter System
PSU has installed a Smart Energy Meter System to monitor and track the real-time electricity consumption of various buildings. This system enables precise analysis and identification of areas with high energy usage. The data collected is utilized for ongoing planning and improvement of the university’s energy efficiency.

2. Regular Inspection and Maintenance of Electrical Equipment
The university conducts monthly inspections and maintenance of electrical equipment, focusing on key high-energy-consuming systems, including:
- Power transformers
- Water pump motors
- Lighting systems
- Air conditioning systems
- Passenger elevators
- Low-voltage electrical devices
- Solar power generation systems
- Electrical control panels
