Policy on Promoting Equality and Implementing Fair Practices in the Selection of Candidates for Admission to Prince of Songkla University
Prince of Songkla University’s primary mission is to provide high-quality, standardized higher education. In line with this mission and under Sections 34 and 39 of the Prince of Songkla University Act, B.E. 2559 (2016), PSU issues the following policy to promote equality and eliminate discrimination in the admissions process. All faculties and related departments are to use these guidelines when establishing criteria for student selection:
1.Promoting Equal Opportunity in Admissions: Support and promote equality in admissions by ensuring that no discrimination occurs based on differences in origin, ethnicity, religion, language, gender identity, disability, or socioeconomic background.
2.Supporting Disadvantaged Individuals: Provide assistance to underprivileged individuals, especially those with various disabilities, to access university education, except where restrictions are outlined by professional organizations.
To achieve this, PSU has established a comprehensive framework of policies, initiatives, and monitoring mechanisms aimed to:
- Encourage female applicants to apply across all academic disciplines, including fields where women have been traditionally underrepresented.
- Ensure gender-sensitive and inclusive practices in all admission communications, promotional materials, and evaluation processes.
- Provide dedicated mentorship, counseling, and academic guidance to support women throughout the admission and enrollment journey.
- Collaborate with schools, community organizations, and NGOs to conduct outreach activities that inspire and empower young women to pursue higher education and leadership opportunities at PSU.
