Policy on Supporting Academic Freedom

Prince of Songkla University (PSU), as a public university under the supervision of the Office of the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), operates in compliance with national regulations published in the Royal Thai Government Gazette. These regulations require all higher education institutions to uphold and support academic freedom, institutional autonomy, and equality in their administration and operations.

In accordance with the policy entitled “Guidelines on Social Responsibility, Academic Freedom, Autonomy, and Equality,” PSU ensures that its academic community — including faculty members, researchers, and students — can freely engage in teaching, research, and public discourse within their areas of expertise.

The University is committed to fostering an environment that encourages open inquiry, innovation, and expression of ideas, while maintaining good governance, transparency, and social responsibility. This framework guarantees that PSU’s academic activities align with national principles promoting academic freedom and integrity as fundamental pillars of higher education.
