Strengths/uniqueness of the course :
The Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at Prince of Songkla University is recognized as the first of its kind established in the south of Thailand. The Bachelor of Engineering Program in Manufacturing Engineering aims to produce engineers with a positive mindset who can integrate knowledge in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to create innovations in manufacturing engineering. Graduates will possess global competencies and 21st century skills to solve engineering problems for the Southern region and the nation. The program is delivered through an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) approach, emphasizing diverse active learning methods. These include Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Project-Based Learning (PBL), Work-Integrated Learning (WIL), the CDIO (Conceive, Design, Implement, and Operate) Education Framework, and Service Learning. These methods align with the royal philosophy of Prince Mahidol: "Our Soul is for the Benefit of Mankind."
Program Educational Objective
The Program Educational
Objectives for the Manufacturing Engineering Program have been established as
follows:
PEO 1 Graduates proficiently practice their profession in careers
manufacturing engineering including product design, process design and
planning, quality inspection and control.
PEO 2 Graduates efficiently utilize state-of-the art technology from
data analytics and Manufacturing.
PEO 3 Graduates pursue advanced studies and use self-learning skills to
advance their careers
PEO 4 Graduates practice their professions with integrity,
professionalism, and ethics, and contribute to the development of their
communities and society.
Students Outcomes (SOs)
Graduates of the Manufacturing
Engineering Program will have attained the following outcomes by the time of
graduation.
SO 1 An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering
problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
SO 2 An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that
meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare,
as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
SO 3 An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
SO 4 An ability to recognize ethical and professional
responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which
must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic,
environmental, and societal contexts.
SO 5 An ability to function effectively on a team whose members
together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment,
establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
SO 6 An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation,
analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
SO 7 An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using
appropriate learning strategies.
