PSU and ThaiHealth organized a campaign to reduce risk factors in universities and communities in the 5 southern provinces




On January 6, 2024, PSU led by the PSU President, Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub along with Mr. Wichet Pichairat, an expert from the ThaiHealth, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Narit Duangsuwan, the project leader, jointly held a press conference to launch the “Integrate Power of PSU” project with the purpose to promote the reduce risk factors campaign in the university and community.
The project is supported by the Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth). The press conference was attended by the general public, community representatives, staff, and students at the Sports and Health Center, PSU Hat Yai Campus.






PSU President Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat, stated that this project aligns with the university's policies and directions in creating a safe space regarding risk factors, accidents, smoking, and alcohol for students and staffs. This is to drive sustainable development, enabling people to lead healthy lives and promoting well-being for individuals of all ages in accordance with the university's core values which include professionalism, social responsibility, and unity and to continue the mission of “Our soul is for the benefit of mankind”. The university upholds the principle of embracing the common good and has strategically set significant objectives. This is achieved through the establishment of safe spaces addressing crucial health and societal risk factors.





"The university has 8 key policy areas, focusing on supporting academic work through knowledge management. This involves developing mechanisms to manage risk factors within all 5 campuses of the university and the surrounding community with communication campaigns to reduce risky behaviors within the university and the broader community, health protection for non-smokers and designated non-smoking areas, leads towards the development of the university as a sustainable smoke-free institution, encourage people using public transportation system within the university to reduce the use of motorcycles and private cars, renovate roads and environmental factors, collaborate with networked organizations in the public, private, and social sectors. This aims to establish a mechanism for PSU to become a model in managing health and social risk factors."
