On May 19, 2025, Prince of Songkla University (PSU), as the alumni coordinator of the ASEA-UNINET network, co-hosted the event “Thai Alumni of Austrian Universities First Meeting in Thailand” together with the Austrian Embassy in Bangkok, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), and Thai member universities of ASEA-UNINET. The event took place at the Austrian Embassy in Bangkok, aiming to foster academic and research collaboration between the two countries through the network of ASEA-UNINET scholarship recipients and Thai alumni who graduated from Austrian universities.

During the opening ceremony, H.E. Mag. Wilhelm Donko, Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to the Kingdom of Thailand, H.E. Ms. Pattarat Hongtong, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Austria, and Professor Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary of MHESI, delivered keynote speeches. Dr. Royol Chitradon, the President of Austrian University Alumni in Thailand, also spoke on the vital role of alumni in advancing Austria-Thailand cooperation in various dimensions.
A key highlight of the event was a panel discussion titled “Exploring Austria-Thailand Collaboration in Research and Education: A Journey from Past to Future”, featuring speakers from both Austrian and Thai institutions. Toward the end of the event, alumni from Austrian universities presented their research works in tribute to Prof. Bernd Michael Rode, a pivotal figure in fostering educational and research cooperation between the two nations.
The event atmosphere was filled with friendship and academic collaboration among ASEA-UNINET scholarship recipients, Thai alumni of Austrian universities, and representatives from Thai ASEA-UNINET member institutions. The evening concluded with a dinner reception hosted by the Austrian Embassy in Bangkok.
