PSU delegation meets Austrian ambassador to discuss “Thai Alumni of Austrian Universities in Thailand” event
On 19 March 2025, a delegation from Prince of Songkla University (PSU), led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Thakerng Wongsirichot, Vice President for Academic and International Affairs and Coordinator for ASEA-UNINET Alumni Affairs, along with Dr. Royol Chitradon, Austrian Alumni President, and representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI), paid an official visit to H.E. Wilhelm Donko, Ambassador of Austria to Thailand. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the event "Thai Alumni of Austrian Universities First Meeting in Thailand," scheduled to take place in Bangkok on 19 May 2025.
That initial gathering of alumni is expected to serve as a significant
step in strengthening educational and research collaborations between
universities in Thailand and Austria, particularly those within the
ASEA-UNINET network. The initiative aims to leverage the support of Thai
alumni who graduated from universities in Austria.
The idea for this alumni event was initially proposed during the 19th ASEA-UNINET Plenary Meeting, held at Universiti Sains Malaysia on 27 February 2024. The proposal recommended organizing activities to enhance cooperation among alumni who received scholarships under the ASEA-UNINET network, and to foster relationships between the alumni and the network itself. As the designated coordinator for ASEA-UNINET Alumni Affairs, PSU has taken the lead in implementing this initiative.
