PSU successfully co-hosts "Aiming for Social Impact Together – University Top Management Summit 2025"




Prince of Songkla University (PSU), in collaboration with Kansai University, Japan, successfully hosted the "Aiming for Social Impact Together: University Top Management Summit 2025" under the theme:
"Disrupting Boundaries: Universities Leading the Charge for Social Innovation and Global Sustainability."

The event took place from 11 to 13 February 2025 at Novotel Phuket City Phokeethra and at Prince of Songkla University’s Phuket campus. The opening ceremony was presided over by Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Kaewpradub, President of Prince of Songkla University, along with Asst. Prof. Dr. Thakerng Wongsirichot, Vice President for Academic and International Affairs, university executives, and senior leaders from ten institutions across four countries and one regional Intergovernmental Organization.

The participating institutions include Kansai University, Osaka Metropolitan University, and the University of Tsukuba (Japan); Fundación Universitaria San Pablo CEU (Spain); the Ohio State University and the University of Minnesota (United States); Chiang Mai University, Khon Kaen University, Mahidol University, Mae Fah Luang University, and Prince of Songkla University (Thailand). The SEAMEO Regional Centre for Higher Education and Development (SEAMEO RIHED) actively took part in the summit as well.




The event focused on the role of universities in addressing global social challenges such as climate change, inequality, and pandemics, while also featuring keynote speeches, including: "Resilience and Adaptability in University Leadership" by Prof. Dr. Harvey Charles; "Interdisciplinary Collaboration for Global Challenges" by Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Kaya Sahin; and "Digital Transformation and the Future of Learning" by Prof. Dr. Ryosuke Ohniwa, Prof. Dr. Keiko Ikeda, and Prof. Dr. Masahiro Inoue.




Additional parallel group discussions and brainstorming sessions explored interesting topics such as: "Breaking Academic Silos: Encouraging Students to be Global Problem Solvers" facilitated by Prof. Dr. Alfonso Luis Díaz Segura, and "Redefining the Role of Higher Education in Achieving the SDGs" facilitated by Ms. Rita Koryan.

This workshop served as a call to action for higher education institutions to rethink their roles and responsibilities in an era that demands innovative and sustainable solutions, positioning universities as key drivers of social transformation and global problem-solving in the future.
