International Day of Yoga 2024 hosted by PSU and the Embassy of India in Thailand

On 22 June 2024, PSU in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Thailand organized a yoga event on International Day of Yoga 2024 to promote healthy lifestyles and strengthen the relationship between the university and the Indian diaspora. The event was officially opened by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Janya Chanchaichujit, Assistant President for Promotion of Foreign Affairs; along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teerasak Jindabot, Director of the Global Affairs and Corporate Communications Center; PSU executives; staff members; students, and other participants. The event featured Mr. Sanjiv Kumar Chaturvedi, an expert Indian yoga instructor, as the leader of the early-morning yoga exercise held at PSU’s Hat Yai Campus.

The International Day of Yoga aims to promote the practice of yoga widely, recognizing its benefits as a discipline that has existed for over 2,000 years. Yoga provides both physical and mental therapy, helps alleviate various pains, aids in energy metabolism, calms the mind, reduces stress, and significantly enhances concentration.

In 2014, the United Nations declared June 21 of each year as the International Day of Yoga. PSU, in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Thailand, has previously hosted the International Day of Yoga twice: in 2019, and in 2023. The third iteration this year has received an overwhelmingly positive response from participants.
