PSU Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Days: enhanced measures for cybersecurity and personal data protection
On June 27-28, 2024, the Office of Digital Innovation and Intelligent Systems (DiiS), PSU, organized the 'PSU Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Days' at the Hat Yai Campus. The event was inaugurated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, the PSU president, who delivered the opening speech, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sinchai Kamolphiwong, the director of DiiS, who gave the report speech. The event was attended by university executives, representatives from supporting agencies, speakers, cybersecurity experts, and numerous interested participants.
Dr. Niwat emphasized that in the digital era, where data has become an immensely valuable resource, data security and cybersecurity are crucial and necessary. Today, digital technology is constantly used in daily activities, work, learning, communication, and financial transactions. The personal data of all users is collected and utilized in various ways.
Cyber threats, such as internet attacks and privacy violations, are
persistent problems that everyone faces while using digital devices and
during background processing. Therefore, cybersecurity and personal data
protection are issues that cannot be neglected. Understanding and
preparing for these matters will help protect our own data, the data of
organizations, and effectively prevent cyber threats to society.
The event "PSU Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Days" is being held for
the first time in the southern region, bringing together global
organizations in one place to enhance knowledge and understanding of
cybersecurity and personal data protection.
Dr. Sinchai stated that in an era of rapid digital technological advancement, protecting against cyber threats and safeguarding personal data have become critical priorities. Cyber threats can have severe impacts on both organizations and individuals. Therefore, recognizing and understanding the importance of cybersecurity and personal data protection are essential.
The event was organized to enhance knowledge, understanding, and awareness of cybersecurity and personal data protection for the public sector, academia, private sector, as well as youth and students. The event featured lectures by expert speakers, academic discussions on social, economic, legal, and digital technology aspects, including AI, and presentations of cutting-edge research. It provided attendees with knowledge and ideas that can be applied in daily life and work.
