PSU invents timer system to remind overdue parking
PSU Scientific Equipment Center engineer has invented a timer system for cars parked in the time-restricted areas using the principles of metal detection in sending signals to the timer to turn on lights and sound signals when the parking time expires.
“The Center used to face the problems of lacking parking spaces for vehicles transporting equipment and gas. Using guards to watch the parking spaces was not successful so the system was invented. When the parking time is over, the device will send off light and sound signals. At present, many units in the universities have asked us to install the instrument”. Mr. Sattaya Bunratchu, Scientific Equipment Center engineer, the inventor of the device, revealed the motif behind the invention.
In installing the system, a metal detector is buried under each parking space. When a car is parked, signals will be sent to the monitor with an automatic time setter program. If it is parked longer than allowed, warning sounds will be on at intervals to warn the car owner and the security guards.
The timer system for car parking used at the Center is cheap, safe, durable in all climates and easy to maintain because it is the system invented by the Center itself. At present, it is in use at the Center and in some areas of the Computer Center’s parking lots and will be installed in many other areas in the university.
