Prince of Songkla University is the first university in Southern Thailand. Its principal objectives are to raise the standard of education and support the development of the southern regional of the country as well as to be the center of higher education, and to increase the opportunity for tertiary education of the people of Southern Thailand. Since the beginning it was intended that the University be a multi-campuses university, and Phuket Campus is the third Campus of the University. Phuket Campus is situated at Tambon Katu, Thalang District, Phuket Province. The Campus is now composed of three faculties and one community college. Phuket Campus has one gymnasium and several sport fields and courts for students and personnel of the University to make exercises for health as well as for organizing competition in various sports, for examples, badminton, basketball, volleyball, tennis, petanque and beach volleyball courts. These facilities are opened for use every day, and the gymnasium is opened from 14.00 – 22.30
Students and personnel of Phuket Campus can use SSC to practice languages skill and improve their understanding of cultures of various countries including Thailand. Opening time for SSC is between 08.30-16.30
Canteens, minimarts, coffee shops, laundries, beauty saloons, gift shops, computer shop, bookstore, copying shops, and food kiosks are available within the Campus.
Students whose mails are addressed to a university dormitory or to a faculty may claim their mails at the respective dormitory office or faculty office. In claiming the mails, a student must produce his/ her student identity card or citizen identity card for examination by the responsible officers. Necessities and Concept:
1. The original structural division of teaching and learning support units of Prince of Songkla Phuket Campus was not in agreement with their actual day to day operation. Overlapping of works, too many steps in carrying out works, lack of centralized command in certain key areas has led to an ill-defined duty of personnel and difficult to manage and to follow up works. The situation was exacerbated by limited information resources, technology and man-power.
2. Under the context of the changes in information technology, rapid advances in communication technology has become important factor in accelerating the changes in socio-economics and politics that produce impact on opportunities and pose dangers for all countries of the world. It is imperative that Thailand must carry out necessary reform, improvement and development in all fronts truly and continuously. As for the government organizations, the Government has pushed for the modernization of their roles, mission, financial and administrative structure systems, works steps and procedure, by employing information technology in all of their works and services.
To conform with the Government policy, Prince of Songkla University Phuket Campus has reorganize its teaching and learning support units by adopting a unified or centralized approach for the management of teaching and learning resources of the Campus. The setting up of a Learning Center (LC) as the center of resources on library system, information technology, audio visual equipments will lead to more efficient services for the faculties/ teaching staff/ students/ university personnel in general. It will be a totally integrated single point service (one stop service). The Learning Center consists of the following units:
1. The Library Unit: To carry out technical and management aspects of electronics information resources, keeping and maintaining archival records.
2. The Information Technology Unit: To operate and maintain laboratories equipments, manage the development and services of information system, and do engineering works.
3. The Audio Visual Unit: To provide audio-visual services, produce teaching media, print documents, manage the borrowing-returning of audio-visual equipments, and responsible for the maintenance of all audio-visual equipments.

The Business Incubation Center Phuket Campus principal objectives are to help producing and developing entrepreneurs with emphasis on business that use innovation to increase international competitiveness potential which could lead to a stable and lasting economic growth. Its also aims to be a leading organization of the country for the promotion and management of intellectual properties and for technology transfer under the efficient management that values the satisfaction of those who seek services.
In December 2000, a Cabinet resolution was passed pronouncing the clean and transparent organization objective as a main policy, with the status of national level plan, of the Government. It has declared corruption as a danger to the security of the country and ordered the ministries, departments and all governmental organizations to follow the action plan of creating the clean and transparent government organizations and fully cooperated in carrying out the works to reach the stated objectives. The orders given to each organization were specific on three objectives, namely, to set up a clean and transparent center, to devise the strategic plan for the center and to produce annual report of the operation and planning of the center.
The University has set up committees to deal with the matter in July 2003. Confucius Institute at Phuket, Prince of Songkla University (CIP) was established by the cooperation between Prince of Songkla University and Shanghai University under the support of the Office of Chinese Language Council International (HANBAN) , the people republic of China. Its main missions are to promote Chinese language and culture, support researches and publicize news on Chinese culture in order to strengthen relationship between Thailand and the People Republic of China. The Confucius Institute at Phuket, Prince of Songkla University is an independently managed, self support and non-profit organization that aims to provide opportunities for school children, students, staff and general public in leaning or improving their knowledge and skill in Chinese language and culture.
